Emergency teams contain fires sparked by falling fragments
ABU DHABI – Authorities in the UAE capital have confirmed that one person was killed and four others injured after debris fell at the Habshan gas facilities following a security incident.
The fatality, an Egyptian national, occurred during evacuation procedures, while two Pakistani and two Egyptian nationals sustained minor injuries.
Officials said the debris resulted from aerial interceptions carried out by defence systems.
According to a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the situation unfolded after air defence systems successfully intercepted incoming threats. Falling fragments triggered the casualties and caused disruption at the site.

Authorities confirmed that evacuation protocols were activated immediately, with emergency teams deployed to secure the area.
Fires contained
Two fires broke out at the facilities as a result of the incident. Emergency response units acted swiftly to contain and extinguish the flames, preventing further escalation.
Officials noted that the fires were brought under control in a short span, limiting additional risks to infrastructure and personnel.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, with UAE air defences engaging multiple aerial threats. On Friday alone, 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 47 UAVs were intercepted. Since the beginning of the attacks, 475 ballistic missiles, 23 cruise missiles and 2,085 UAVs have been neutralised.
Authorities reported wider casualties linked to the ongoing situation, including fatalities among armed forces personnel and civilians, alongside more than 200 injuries of varying severity across multiple nationalities.
